Multicultural Skills Workshop Sunday, October 13 in Whitewater

Multicultural Skills for Baha’is and Friends

Are you culturally competent? Do cultural misunderstandings hinder your relationships with others? Multicultural skills are important for everyone but especially for Baha’is.

“We stand for unity through diversity and we hold in contempt every attempt at uniformity…” Shoghi Effendi

Cultural competence begins with knowing who YOU are. By understanding your own cultural identity and how experiences have shaped your beliefs, you can start exploring multicultural areas that you can expand and grow upon. This gathering for teens and adults will include videos, handouts, and discussion. Facilitated by Whitewater psychologist and Baha’i – Dr. Suzanne Popke (www.dpopketherapy.com).

Please RSVP by email so there are enough handouts for everyone:

Time: 1 PM to 4 PM
Place: Historic Nelson Salisbury House at 404 W. North St.,Whitewater, WI (public parking across the street in lot next to

Unit Conventions in October

Unit Conventions in the US are coming up the first weekend in October. Voters (all adult registered Baha’is in good standing) should have recently received their ballot materials – hard copy mailed – from the National Spiritual Assembly. Households with voters should receive invitations from a host Assembly to attend their particular voting Unit’s convention shortly, if they have not arrived already.

If none of your materials have arrived. and especially if you moved during the past year, please check your membership record at National, and verify your convention location/date/host, at

Huququ’llah Deepening Series

Greetings Friends, I have been asked to present the “12 Lessons – an
organized and systematic approach to studying the Law of Huqúqu’lláh”,
to be hosted in the Brookfield area starting this September.

Please let me know if you would be interested in attending these study
sessions. Generally, 4-5 sessions are required to complete the course
of study. This is a very comprehensive study. You will learn many
interesting aspects of the Law through these sessions. Details will
follow to those who might be interested.

Please reach out to me with your interest in attending or with other
questions you may have.

“The aim is to learn about how to participate in the material affairs
of society in a way that is consistent with the divine precepts and
how, in practical terms, collective prosperity can be advanced through
justice and generosity, collaboration and mutual assistance…. *

“Examining one’s life to determine what is a necessity and then
discharging with joy one’s obligation in relation to the law of
Huququ’llah is an indispensable discipline to bring one’s priorities
into balance, purify whatever wealth one possesses, and ensure that
the share which is the Right of God provides for the greater good. At
all times, contentment and moderation, benevolence and fellow feeling,
sacrifice and reliance on the Almighty are qualities that befit the
God-fearing soul…. *
